First of all, I'm Spanish so I apologize if my writing sucks. I've been playing 'Academia' for the last two days and I have some ideas that could make the game greater.
The mayor problem I've found is I have A LOT of rowdy/rude students. And as soon as the number of students increases it's just impossible to control. You can only have one office and one principal, and the guy just spends the day wondering around doing God knows what. Meanwhile, I have ten students waiting in his office without being punished. I think it could be interesting if there were some kind of guidance counselor, but it would be helpful if you can have as many of them as you need. And they could give the students different types of punishment, like warnings or suspension. For example, after five warnings, the student will be suspended, and after that, expelled. As the students just go to detention at the end of the day, it could be interesting if the difficult ones would be sent to a special class during the day instead of going to their classes. It seems to me that the problem with rude/rowdy students doesn't get better, because they don't get more disciplined, it doesn't matter how many times they're sent to detention.
Another issue that drives me nuts is the cleaning. Even if I assign four janitors just for one room (for example, a library) and I create a route for them, the room is always dirty. Maybe it would be better if you could create "cleaning zones" more than routes. And they really need to be faster because my school is always a mess. And when I create a route with six janitors, for example, they all stay together in a group instead of cleaning. I suggest shifts as well, so you can create a zone, assign four janitors, two in a shift and the other two in a different shift. I suggest the same for the monitors. I've tried to create so many routes for both trying to cover all the problematic zones, that the map it's just insane.
In the cafeteria, it would be great if you could choose the menu. I mean, you can choose between something cheap, something healthier, something fancy... With different prices and impact, both for your students and your reputation. It would be helpful if you could hire cooks (who, obsviously, cooks), cleaners (who picks dirty dishes and washes them) and chef's assistants (who helps in the kitchen, picks the food and place it in the refrigerators and place the food ready to eat in the cafeteria). It could solve the problem I've been having in the cafeteria, because all the tables are full of dirty dishes even when everyone has finished and left. Also, to manage the hunger need, it would be useful having vending machines and food stalls. And, it would be helpful if you could build a cafeteria for the students, for the staff or for both.
About the classes, it could be great if the students had P.E. classes, so you can build a gym. I can't maintain the studen's motivation, so I would like to have the opportunity of having different clubs where they can go after classes, like chess club, drama club, football team, basketball team, school's newspaper... And the students could choose which one they want to join. You could see how many students are in that club, and if there are more than wanted to join in. And maybe you, as an administrator, could choose the schedule, choosing the time and the days of the week for these activities. I think Computer Lab is good, but it's too expensive with the electricity cost and the computer's price, but it seems the only choice to increase "fun". It could be useful having some outdoor activities like playgrounds, a basketball court, a baseball court, etc. Anything funnier than the Common Room. And for those who play any sports after school, you could build a locker room.
Events would be great, like sports events, prom, Halloween, Christmas, performances... I don't know, interesting things to keep students motivated and to make the game less routine. School year could be split in three terms (we have three terms of three months each every year, here in Spain), and the students could have three evaluations along the school year.
I think it could be great if you could decide general things about your school, like choosing between private school, government funded school or partially subsidized or if you're school is strict or relaxed about your student's behavior. I mean, basic guidelines about your policy. That could help you with the grants. These would made the game more interesting because it would never be the same. You could play campaigns that would get harder. For example you have to start with 50 students, with x% of them passing the exams, and with a rate of x% rude students. And then, in another campaign, you have a school already created but with a lot of rude students, poor grades, no janitors... and you have to accomplish certain tasks such x% of prestige. I don't know, there's a lot of possibilities like that.
And finally, more floors, walls and decorations would be amazing and really interesting when you're trying to customize your school.
Thanks for reading, and I hope I hasn't been painful to read all of this.
