Finally got round to playing Academia last night, and I was very impressed with the alpha (which was rightfully categorized as a Beta on Steam). A lot of the basic features are in place, and pending a tutorial, it's very playable and certainly meets the Early Access criteria with flying colors.
There are some things I'm looking forward to (most likely things that other players have already brought up). Zoning is a lovely idea, but at the moment, it only allows me to zone areas that are perfect squares and rectangles. I'm sure you guys are already working on zone linking, which would be great as I like designing rooms that are irregularly shaped.
When demolishing walls, I think it would be great to mark them out more prominently -- at the moment, if I'm not mistaken, the wall marked for demolition is given a transparent red color. Maybe an "x" icon or a more obvious color would be better as I often can't see which walls I've already marked.
I'm also sure you guys are still fine tuning pathfinding and prioritization -- some funny quirks I ran into is my janitor's obsession with the trash bin inside one of my classrooms, which is the only bin he'll use even though there are 5 others scattered throughout the school. Funny guy, that janitor.
All in all, very impressed with the current version and it feels close to completion of a base version already. There are some QoL things that are missing, but I'm confident it's work in progress. I enjoyed it so much, I'm looking forward to playing it again. Apologies again if some the stuff I mentioned have already been covered -- I'm late to the party!
