EDIT: It should be noted that besides when I asked Ryan How To, I consulted NO MANUAL (including Tristan's guide). Majority of the lazy people will do a minimum of reading - and this is my complete opposite, by the way, so it puts me in a lot of discomfort roleplaying this character. I'll try to self-document as well as I can.
It might be of interest to you guys as to how I learned to play this game. I'd encourage other players to chime in.
1) WASD Camera movements. - 3/5. Tried arrows first. Did not expect to use WASD initially, as I expect them to occupy hotkeys once I've learned to play the game.
2) How to Rotate Objects - 0/5 Failed this one. I had to ask Ryan Sumo via Facebook Messenger. I tried mouse-wheel scrolling, right clicking while the blueprint is selected. R / pressing mouse wheel did not "come to my mind". Can you signpost this in succeeding builds?
3) How to Zone Rooms when I had already built a walled-classroom with chairs and stuff. - 4/5 This is one of the stronger points, I think. I saw the "Zones" in the build menu, and it just clicked. When the zone was not working, the TOOLTIP that says "Hey, you need a chair" is a frickin' GOD SEND. To make this 5/5, add the pre-reqs to the zone tooltips so I don't have to pre-guess what is already there. But imo, this is pretty well done.
4) The First Grant Walkthrough - 3.5/5 The combination of 1, 2, and 3, allow for the basics of room building with very little elbow grease needed. The advantage of having a school system that, for 90%* of the time, people have already been through makes it easier to teach people how things work. I'm super glad I didn't have to go through enrollment (and that it was automatic).
Other tidbits of information that might be of interest to you.
A) I didn't realize cooks cleaned plates. This is big - I overhired janitors thinking they'd be needed. Does firing people have a penalty? (US Economy = No - employees do not have tenure. Philippine / UK Economy - Yes, Tenure. Choose wisely.)
B) I made a small cafeteria with only 4 tables. At 4 classes of 18 students each, I don't think it's enough to feed all the kids. It's a wonder they're not dead yet.
C) How does my school function 3 days in without toilets and food? I'm a bit confused by this. I realize that there should be a newbie shield and I don't want people complaining about my school from day 1 because I lack facilities, but hey, these are real human needs. I think these can easily be part of the First Grant walkthrough you guys have done.
I'll update this more as I continue to play the game!
